thsmusic Only just learned of ‘Singin’ to God’ and have been listening to it on repeat - alternating with Tim Smith’s original - every day for the last week. What a beautiful tribute to him and so brilliantly executed. Hats off to all involved in this breathtaking recreation. A real achievement.

ponydress What an undertaking! Done exquisitely. No corners cut. Brings different tracks to life in a new way. You know Cardiacs were something incredibly special when their fans take the time to make something like this. What a beautiful statement. Thank you. Favorite track: Nurses Whispering Verses.

about

"Singin' to God" is an a cappella cover version of Cardiacs' brilliant 1995 double album "Sing to God". It is ninety minutes of some of the most ingenious and challenging rock-oriented music on earth, arranged and sung by Detroit's legendary singing group: "The 180 Gs". The Gs have managed to remain faithful to the large and small details of Cardiacs' music, even while layering more than 100 voices on each song.
Every musical sound on this album (from the drums and bass to the lead vocals and guitar solos) was created with the voices and bodies of the 180 Gs (with the exception of a kazoo on 1 song and some occasional environmental sounds throughout).
This album was intended to be heard without pauses between songs so if you burn a cd, set the "between-song time" to zero.
"Singin' to God" contains the very first cover versions of many of these songs by any group. The Gs have also, with the release of this album, coined a new genre for critics to bandy about: Pronkapella.
Half of the price of each download will be donated to the fund for Tim Smith's ongoing medical care.
The bonus items are the back cover of the album, a PDF of the timeline for the recording process and a PDF of the working notes from the record that didn't get thrown away accidentally. But that's not all!! You also get a karaoke version of Dirty Boy so you can sing it yourself (in private or in public)!
Lastly: if you'd like to receive news update emails from the Gs whenever anything significant happens in their world, please leave your email address in the "contact david minnick" area on the page. I'm sure he'll eventually let us know.
Thank you for being you!
