I entered 36 remix contests between 2009 and 2012 (and one more in 2015). After collecting virtual dust for more than 6 years, 25 of these remixes are now available on 2 albums (arranged in chronological order).
The prospect of using the individual tracks of another artist's song to create whatever music I wanted to create was exhilarating! My usual MO was to keep only the vocal track and to write and record all of the other music myself. This method allowed me to completely change the harmony, rhythm, tempo, instrumentation and genre of the song while keeping the vocal part in tact. This is how a "mall pop" song could transform into hyperactive klezmer or how a Snoop Dogg song could become an epic sea shanty.
Each remix has a story. I've included some of those in the track descriptions.

Coming to this band kind of late. This is the third Cardiacs album I have bought and the best: unrelenting punk energy, creative, irreverent, funny, epic, occasionally funky. One of the only albums that makes me smile ear to ear. It matches my internal monologue so well that bizarrely I find it calming, despite it bring objectively one of the least calming albums you'll ever hear. normalhumanperson
