Hello!
My name is David Minnick. I am the artist behind the 180Gs, The Sursiks, Oven Mitt Johnson and Tritone. I was the guitarist and one of the primary songwriters for the Detroit ska band Gangster Fun from 1986-2000 (and a few reunion shows after 2000). I make my living as a church music director and teacher but I also create production music, write arrangements for other composers/bands and produce albums for other artists (including Judge Smith, Iggy and the Stooges, ICP, Marina Arsenijevic and George Clinton)
The musical projects that I come up with on my own are large and conceptual and seemingly impossible. Nobody believes me when I tell them what I am working on. Due to the nature of these projects, it isn't possible for me to release a song a week as is the usual method these days. I am hoping that, with the help of some people who are excited by the projects I create, I can begin to say "no" to some of the projects that offer money but little artistic fulfillment. This would allow me to spend more time on the projects I dearly love: the gigantic, complicated, strange ones whose very existence is enigmatic.
I would be delighted to have you as a subscriber to my Bandcamp feed. This is the most direct and personal way for you to support what I do and to make more of it possible....sooner!
If you subscribe, you'll get all new releases instantly streaming to your mobile device via the free Bandcamp app (including the forthcoming a cappella version of Captain Beefheart's "Trout Mask Replica" by the 180Gs). You will also have every album I've released on Bandcamp delivered the same way (that's 12 albums and 2 singles)!
Thank you for your support and encouragement; it means the world to me!
